A Public Education
- and a great one at that!

Not bad considering it was resourced among the most fantastic museums, theaters, media, the world's most accessible publishers, and intelligent politicians and  sports teams (ok, not the best teams), but I even attended a national rodeo demonstration! But you know what I mean.

PS 41 (Elementary School)

Did you know me in The Greenwich Village School The first full year of the "new" PS 41 in 1959? Now there is talk about rebuilding the "new" PS 41! "Time flies like minutes!"

Or did we meet in JHS 3, 1960?

Junior High School 3 was on Grove Street catercorner to the Bedord St. Apartment near where the fictional Friends of TV fame lived.

High School of Commerce

Or did we meet at the HS of Commerce 1962-1964?

It was fun watching Lincoln Center take shape from a classroom window but the noise and the dust were distracting.

Lincoln Center (NYC) Under Construction From Class 1963

Growing up in New York City I really developed a love for the city and appreciated the elements that made it work. Using the buses and subways with everyday New Yorkers to get to school could be a hassle but also as a treat!  Local bookstores, museums, and libraries were a blast!  Not to mention the shows, and all the stuff of the world at our fingertips. Now, of course  Amazon and the Internet is all you need except for human contact.

My family moved to Old Lyme, CT. I finished my senior year of HS there in 1964.

What a great cross-cultural experience.

Though the Old Lyme wasn't NYC, it did have it's charm and I made some enduring friendships. How about that high school making way for the Lincoln Center and the exurban HS near the genteel Connecticut shoreline?

Let me know when the next reunion will be!
